- Ashwin has taken 56 wickets in 11 Tests at an average of 36.51 against England
- Ojha believes that the England batsman will try to use the sweep shot to try and dominate Ashwin
- But he added that Ashwin has enough experience and will be able to tackle them
The much-anticipated series between England and India will kick-start in Chennai on Friday, and former India spinner Pragyan Ojha believes that the visitors will in particular be aware of the threat that Ravichandran Ashwin is.
Ashwin’s numbers against England are exceptional as he has taken 56 wickets in 11 Tests at an average of 36.51.
Ojha believes that the England batsman will try to use the sweep shot to try and dominate Ashwin and said that the bowler has enough experience to tackle them.
“I think his numbers are brilliant and he has done exceptionally well against these guys (England) and this is not the first time that he is going to face players who are going to sweep him.
“Or maybe they have some tactics to dominate. I have seen the English and Australians, they are known, when they don’t understand some bowler or they are uncomfortable, they either try and sweep you out or maybe try and get those quick runs against you so that you are not settled.
“I think Ashwin is aware of it and mind you we are not playing abroad we are playing in India and Ashwin knows one wicket and things change completely and the pressure will be on England,” Ojha told Sports Today.
