Experienced India opener Shikhar Dhawan was named in Delhi’s 22-man squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy on Friday. Veteran pacer Pradeep Sangwan has been named as the captain of the side.
Shikhar Dhawan is expected to miss the team’s matches after the first few weeks of the tournament which starts from February 20 as India are set to play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs starting March 12.
The 2012-13 champions also have Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star Nitish Rana and former India Under-19 captain Unmukt Chand in their side.
Himmat Singh has been named as Sangwan’s deputy by the Delhi and District Cricket Association’s Selection Committee chaired by Ashu Dani.
Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma will be seen guiding the Delhi side which has been placed in Elite Group D with Mumbai, Maharashtra, HP, Rajasthan and Pondicherry.
Teams entering the bio-secure bubble from February 13. As per the BCCI protocol, the players will undergo three RT-PCR tests in their respective bio-bubble and three more on arrival, before the start of the knock-out stages (pre quarter-finals) from March 7.
